JOB OPENING: Community Manager
We’re looking for a Community Manager who can ensure the smooth-running of our team and office and build a vibrant community in the clean tech ecosystem. The Community Manager is a member of our operations team and works closely with both internal team members and external stakeholders such as portfolio companies, limited partners, and co-investors. The Community Manager creates space for connection and innovation by leading events, coordinating external relations efforts, and overseeing special projects.
The candidate will be creative and enjoy working within an entrepreneurial environment. The ability to exercise good judgment in a diversity of situations, exhibit strong administrative and organizational skills, leverage a high EQ, and critically assess how to balance multiple priorities are keys to success in this position.
Ultimately, you’ll contribute to the success of our business by providing support to all team members and creating programming and spaces for the team to grow and connect.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- You will work with the COO to drive our internal culture plans to best serve our vibrant remote team, which includes coordinating quarterly offsite retreats, in-person and virtual meetings and events, and team social gatherings.
- You will improve CEV’s climate tech ecosystem relations by planning and hosting events in North America and in Europe, and by creating opportunities for engagement with LPs and co-investors in the climate tech space.
- You will set team training programming for multi-year team professional development for our growing firm, planning internal and external educational opportunities on a variety of topics.
- You will be the first stop for general inbound inquiries, understanding and directing urgent and important communications.
- You will work with our Manager of Impact Measurement and Management to support portfolio companies with ESG interventions and developing inclusive cultures in our portfolio companies.
- You will foster an active practice of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at CEV.
- You will make and manage travel arrangements for the team around special events.
- You will own a variety of vendor relationships, including our co-working space provider, software providers, and executive assistant services, who oversee team-wide meeting cadences.
- You will keep our team organized, for everything from file management to Slack etiquette.
- You will manage our meeting and calendar technologies, including controlling video conferencing software during meetings, booking conference rooms, and owning our company vacation and "out of office" calendar.
- You will provide support to our sister organization, Clean Energy Venture Group, as sometimes needed and instructed by their Executive Managing Director.
- You will be our pinch hitter, stepping in and stepping up when new needs arrive to drive effective and timely operation of our team and business.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- You have extremely high integrity with a strong reputation as honest, transparent, reliable, diligent, and trustworthy.
- You are tremendously well-organized, to the point of being able to help those around you to become well organized.
- You are a reliable, proactive teammate with high emotional intelligence, especially in contexts requiring teamwork.
- You have experience managing many projects and tasks simultaneously, and determining importance amongst competing priorities.
- You have a strong ability to understand the tone of communications necessary for appropriate communications within the team, and with our investors, portfolio companies and other stakeholders.
- You have managed information flow within an organization in a timely and accurate manner.
- You have professional experience as an administrative assistant, chief of staff, or similar organization- and coordination-oriented role.
- You have very strong written and oral communication skills.
When in doubt if you meet all these requirements, please apply.

- Carried interest (i.e., a share in the profits from Fund performance).
- 401(k) and additional retirement plan benefits.
- Healthcare coverage or healthcare coverage subsidy.
- Unlimited vacation policy, mental health personal days, generous sick leave, plus a week-long winter break at the end of December.
