About Clean Energy Ventures

Clean Energy Ventures is an international, multi-fund, diverse venture capital team focused on combating climate change through innovation.

We’re a unique climate tech VC firm: we embrace complex technologies, transform strong technical teams into commercial successes, and have a 20-year track record of successful investments. We invest in multifaceted — often hardtech — solutions for large-scale decarbonization and provide hands-on guidance to our startups.

Our team is transparent, growth-oriented, and inclusive. We believe in our mission to help civilization thrive sustainably and in the power of the technologies and people we invest in.

Position Description

We’re looking for a Community Manager to ensure the smooth-running of our team and office while building a vibrant community in the clean tech ecosystem. The Community Manager is part of our operations team, working closely with internal team members and external stakeholders such as portfolio companies, limited partners, and co-investors. This role creates space for connection and innovation by leading events, coordinating external relations efforts, and overseeing special projects.

The ideal candidate will be creative, enjoy an entrepreneurial environment, exercise good judgment, exhibit strong administrative and organizational skills, leverage high emotional intelligence, and balance multiple priorities effectively.

Ultimately, you’ll contribute to our business success by supporting all team members and creating programming and spaces for growth and connection.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  1. You will work with the COO to drive our internal culture plans, coordinating quarterly offsite retreats, in-person and virtual meetings, and team social gatherings.
  2. You will improve CEV’s climate tech ecosystem relations by planning and hosting events in North America and Europe, creating engagement opportunities with LPs and co-investors.
  3. You will set training programming for multi-year professional development, planning educational opportunities on various topics.
  4. You will be the first stop for general inquiries, directing urgent and important communications.
  5. You will support portfolio companies with ESG interventions and developing inclusive cultures alongside our Manager of Impact Measurement and Management.
  6. You will foster an active practice of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at CEV.
  7. You will manage travel arrangements for the team around special events.
  8. You will maintain vendor relationships, including our co-working space provider and software providers.
  9. You will keep our team organized, managing everything from file management to Slack etiquette.
  10. You will manage our meeting and calendar technologies, including video conferencing software and booking conference rooms.
  11. You will provide support to our sister organization, Clean Energy Venture Group, as needed.
  12. You will step in and adapt to new needs to drive effective operations.

Qualifications & Experience Required

Qualified candidates will possess a strong combination of the following:

  1. You have high integrity and a reputation for being honest, transparent, reliable, diligent, and trustworthy.
  2. You are well-organized and can help those around you become organized.
  3. You are a proactive teammate with high emotional intelligence.
  4. You have experience managing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  5. You can understand the appropriate tone for communications within the team and with stakeholders.
  6. You have managed information flow within an organization accurately and timely.
  7. You have professional experience as an administrative assistant, chief of staff, or in a similar coordination-oriented role.
  8. You have strong written and oral communication skills.

When in doubt if you meet all these requirements, please apply.

Compensation & Benefits

We provide competitive and holistic compensation, including:

  1. Competitive salary
  2. Carried interest (i.e., a share in the profits from Fund performance)
  3. 401(k) and additional retirement plan benefits
  4. Healthcare coverage or subsidy
  5. Unlimited vacation policy, mental health personal days, generous sick leave, plus a week-long winter break at the end of December
  6. Paid parental leave and medical leave of up to 20 weeks; short and long-term disability
  7. Work from home office stipend and cell phone stipend

Clean Energy Ventures operates in a hybrid work environment. You will be expected to attend some meetings weekly in our Boston office and have the opportunity to work from home as needed.
