Strategic Communications Lead
who will coordinate activities across a team of contributors responsible for the design and management of communications, social, digital media, and outreach strategies in support of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Office of Global Material Security, Office of Radiological Security.

This Strategic Communications Lead will provide support on a full-time basis leading a team specializing in communications and outreach planning; brand strategy and visual concept development for various product types; conference material and signage coordination and production; and creation of production-ready art, graphics, video, and other forms of media.
Essential Job Functions The chosen lead will be a key member of the overall communications team and should have prior experience contributing to communications within international nuclear nonproliferation and security or related areas. The Strategic Communications Lead is expected to report to the customer site near the Smithsonian Metro Stop in Washington, DC up to three (3) days a week to interface with ORS federal staff to support program activities. Specific responsibilities include:
Assisting customer in executing and evaluating their overall communications strategy (internally and externally) and maintaining communications guidelines. Coordinating task completion across a diverse team of contributors to ensure communications and outreach strategies support programmatic and portfolio goals. Identifying and implementing ways to strategically position the technical communications portfolio to provide increased support internally across customer programs. Supporting customer attended and sponsored events, such as national and international conferences, by leading efforts in organizing, branding, and producing informational materials that communicate relevant customer information to event attendees. Managing an up-to-date and comprehensive communications tracker and file management system to ensure communications receive proper reviews prior to release and are easily accessible to the entire communications team. Organizing, leading, and attending regular and ad hoc communications coordination meetings with various stakeholders to assess task progress.
Skills And Qualifications Required The successful candidate must have: 8+ years experience in a strategic communications role developing program-level plans and project-specific communications. Minimum of one year in a customer-facing role. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or other related fields. Demonstrated experience assisting customers on communications programming, implementation, and evaluations. Excellent interpersonal skills in the workplace with demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, prioritize, and respond effectively to short deadlines. Willingness to take initiative, accept ownership of job responsibilities, and make appropriate decisions. Outstanding oral communication and presentation skills with the ability to synthesize information and write concise summaries and reports. Ability to quickly learn the customer's business operations and maintain a current understanding of ongoing and planned changes or impacts to their business operations. A DOE Q or the ability to acquire Q clearance.
