Assistant Professor of Communication Sciences & Disorders
The University of Northern Iowa's Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders seeks applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2025. The successful candidate’s primary teaching and clinical responsibilities will be in the area of speech-language pathology. Specialty area open, but preference given to those with expertise in pediatrics. Position expectations include teaching undergraduate and graduate classes in the applicant’s area of specialization, clinical supervision, scholarly research activities, student advising and mentoring, and service to the department and university. Salary is commensurate based on qualifications and experience.
UNI’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders currently has nine full-time doctoral level faculty and several full- and part-time clinical instructors. The department typically serves approximately 200 undergraduate communication disorders majors and 100 graduate students in speech-language pathology. In addition, the department houses the Roy Eblen Speech & Hearing Clinic that serves approximately 100 clients per week.
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. or research-based Ed.D. in speech-language pathology or related field required. Consideration will be given to ABDs with degree completion by time of appointment. The ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence is also required, and candidates must be eligible for an Iowa license in speech-language pathology.
