Mechanical Designer Job at Evapco in Taneytown

Purpose of the Position

This position will be responsible for preparing detailed models and drawings, specifying components and materials, and producing designs and installation layouts for equipment used by Evapco manufacturing facilities around the world.

Major Areas of Responsibility

• Design layouts, models, and drafts of equipment as required by the Engineering team or shop personnel
• Maintain configuration control of project data, designs and other Technical Data Package elements
• Assist in research, selection and application of components and methods to develop the design concept
• Provide input in design reviews and brainstorming in support of the project
• Order project materials and components required
• Develop new designs utilizing efficient manufacturing processes and cost effectiveness when feasible
• Make proper material selections, assembly and welding procedures throughout the design
• Assist with fabrication, assembly, testing and installation of equipment to validate design
• Review and implement redline revisions to ensure changes are incorporated
• Work within project schedules and provide feedback on progress and any issues that may arise requiring corrective action to be taken
• Other duties assigned

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years academic and/or work experience in mechanical design
• Associate degree in engineering or CAD preferred
• Aptitude test 2D and 3D software, preferably AutoCAD and Solid Edge
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Experience with Bill of Materials structure
• Ability to perform in a collaborative design environment
• Strong mechanical analysis and critical thinking skills
• Must have a valid US passport of the ability to get one

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• In-person manufacturing environment with both shop and office presence
• Intermittent standing, squatting, bending, pulling, and lifting throughout the workday
• Infrequent lifting of 50 lbs. or less
• Wear proper PPE when required and obey all safety regulations
• Standard working hours are 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday
• Occasional Domestic and International travel will be required
