Description
Professional work enriching the library experience for our customers by providing customer service that connects library customers to information, resources and services. The library professional works to engage the customer (children, teens or adults) individually or in groups for library programming. Delivers information services (reference and readers advisory) to customers, using reference research technology and teaches information literacy.

**Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description.

**Additional compensation based on licensure.

Essential Functions

Serves as manager in charge of the main library or branch library, in the absence of Regional Branch Manager, and Assistant Branch Manager.

Provides information, research, and reader's advisory service in person, by telephone, and in virtual/chat reference service.

Coordinates, and works with other staff to promote new initiatives.

Responsible for providing quality customer service, maintains level of efficiency and professional standards of service. Responsible for increasing and improving the library experience for our customers.

Evaluates, and promotes emergent technologies to engage library customers in new library services.

Provides training and support for library customers in the use of e-books, mobile apps, databases and services.

Works collaboratively with Library team members to develop and promote information literacy.

Planning and presentation of library programs and services for adults, teens, or children.

Participates in collection development tasks, book and material online ordering and de-selection.

Responds to inquiries from the public about the library's website, and online library functions, databases, and policies.

Represents the Library at meetings, conferences, presentations and workshops.

Actively participates in fulfilling the Library's mission and system-wide goals.

Performs other related duties as required.

Additional Duties:

In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program or current active enrollment in an ALA accredited Master's Degree in Library Science program. Knowledge of reference sources in all formats, knowledge of fiction and nonfiction literature for all age levels, experience providing training or public presentations, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.

A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Additional Requirements
In-depth knowledge of principles and practices of library science; library system organization; methods and techniques used to establish funding for library programs, and grant writing.

Knowledge of development of long-range strategic plans; development of goals and objectives.

In-depth knowledge of an online, integrated library operating system, including knowledge of circulation functions, public catalog, and research functions. Proficiency with the current versions of SirsiDynix Symphony or other major ILS vendors is preferred.

Knowledge on a professional level of recent trends and best practices in library services.

Proficiency with a PC and software at the level necessary to successfully complete the tasks of the job is required. Proficiency with MS Word and Excel is required.

Professional level knowledge of reference services, virtual reference services and databases.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.

All employees must attend Seminole County Required Trainings.

Department Specific trainings per position may be required.

Ability to communicate library mission, services, and resources to the public; communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
