Our growing, dynamic Marketing and Business Development (M&BD) Department is looking for the right candidate to serve as the Marketing and Business Development Manager for our Litigation, Arbitration & Employment (LAE) practice in Washington, D.C. This position supports the activities of the Investigations, White Collar and Fraud (IWCF) practice in the Americas, helping to frame and drive marketing programs and business development activities. The IWCF M&BD Manager will work as part of a global team, alongside colleagues based in Washington, London, Hong Kong and Munich and reporting into the Senior Manager of M&BD for the global IWCF practice. This individual will collaborate with M&BD members aligned to the LAE and Global Regulatory practice groups and be expected to build strong working relationships with practice area leadership and with all IWCF partners in the region. The position will be located in Washington, D.C. JOB DESCRIPTION Work with Americas LAE IWCF leadership to develop and implement marketing goals and initiatives to support business development as a strategic partner. Lead, create, and implement strategic plans and budgets. Develop a business partnering relationship with partners and other lawyers active in marketing content and business development activities. Become versed in lawyers’ and clients’ business in order to advise, coach, and generate incisive M&BD initiatives that raise profiles, nurture client relationships, and grow profitable revenue. Support the integration of lateral partners, recently elevated partners and counsel, and other lawyers as needed. Assist these attorneys and others in developing personal business development plans. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT Help create strategy for and manage responses to RFPs, customized pitches, and business development presentations. Evaluate practice group strengths and conduct research on existing and prospective clients, competitor activity, and industry or market trends to aid in the development of marketing plans, pitches, presentations, and proposals. Identify cross-selling opportunities with existing practice group clients and other firm clients and work with global, national, and regional M&BD colleagues and lawyers to expand client relationships. Gather and maintain information on practice group experience credentials for inclusion in marketing collateral, optimizing use of firm technology. MARKETING Lead the development of the practice’s flagship U.S.-focused thought leadership publication, the

by identifying editors and author contributors, program managing the production of content and design, and creating and executing an integrated promotional and communications plan to position the firm with clients, internal colleagues, and more broadly, the external market. Work with the firm's communications team to build profile for the practice and industry sector (internally and, as appropriate, externally) by publicizing victories, news items, events, and relevant articles. Proactively evaluate sponsorships and event opportunities to participate and engage in direct go/no-go discussions with partners to ensure alignment to strategy and optimize ROI and ROO. Negotiate agreements and manage participation in sponsorships and memberships in order to ensure that the firm receives the maximum return on its investment. Manage the submission process for all directories and awards for the Americas IWCF practice, including Chambers, GIR, ALM/law.com Legal Awards, Law360 awards, and others. Research marketing initiatives of other regional and global law firms and related practices, including seminars, streaming media, social media, sponsorships and events, brochures and proposals. Accumulate knowledge of industry, legal, and business publications to remain aware of trends that may impact the firm's practice and to identify opportunities for promoting the practice. Produce and manage CLE seminars, receptions, and other marketing-oriented events and activities, including but not limited to event promotion, development of invitations and other client communications, concept development, and vendor selection. Create and regularly update all web and print marketing collateral, including brochures, practice group descriptions, case lists, and biographies. Work with practice group leaders to plan practice meetings and retreats and advise practice leaders regarding steps needed to achieve group goals. Provide support and guidance on other strategic business development and promotional initiatives as needed. SUPERVISORY Supervise one or more junior Marketing & Business Development team members directly. May oversee project work of others from other groups as a virtual team lead. Collaborate with other global, national, and regional marketing and business development team members. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED SKILLS Strong critical thinker and ability to devise data-driven marketing and business development strategies. Experience in stakeholder management, working consultatively with senior-level leaders as a strategic business partner/advisor, managing up and securing buy-in for innovative or best practice approaches. Strong organizational skills and professional judgement with an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision. Well-versed with demonstrated success in marketing and business development best practices. Experience working independently, as well as within cross-functional teams, in a collaborative, professional environment. Project and team management experience, with effective interpersonal skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills, and an exacting attention to detail in all work product. Excellent research and analysis skills. Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE Seven (7) + years of relevant marketing and business development experience in a legal or similar professional services industry preferred. Supervisory experience desirable. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education & experience. HOURS Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., including one hour for lunch. Must be flexible to work additional hours. In Washington, DC, the annualized salary range for this position is $128,000 to $188,000 depending on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. In addition, full time employees as well as some part time employees, will be eligible for the firm’s fringe benefits as they currently exist.
