Motion Recruitment is hiring: Technical Writer (GIS) in Dallas

Duration: 12 Month Contract (Possible extension)

Location: Hybrid- 4 Days/WK (Client located in DFW area)

We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer who has a strong background in documenting technical standards and workflows, with a focus on supporting technology groups. Experience or knowledge in documenting data flow from GIS systems to downstream applications is desired.

Job Description

Develop, write, and maintain comprehensive documentation such as user manuals, standard operating procedures, and workflow guides for GIS and downstream data consuming systems.

Collaborate closely with GIS data editors, database administrators, developers, and subject matter experts to gather information and clarify technical issues.

Create clear and concise documentation that translates complex technical information into accessible content for various audiences.

Assist in the development and documentation of technical standards and best practices.

Review and update existing documentation to ensure accuracy and relevance.

Utilize knowledge of GIS editing processes to document workflows and assist GIS teams as needed.

Participate in meetings and workshops to stay updated on new technologies and changes in existing systems.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical writing within the IT industry.

Proven experience in documenting technical standards and workflows.

Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and editing processes is a significant advantage.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in using documentation tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and other technical writing software.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and adapt to varying project needs.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
