Chief Objective of Position: As a member of the marketing and communications team, this position leads a team of photographers and videographers to create and distribute high-quality branded multimedia projects that promote the university through a variety of digital outlets.
Work Tasks
- Oversee and manage the operations and staff of the Visual Services team.
- Provide leadership to the visual services team of photographers and videographers by scheduling assignments, providing support and feedback, and empowering creativity and professional development.
- Conceive and develop creative solutions for addressing University initiatives through audio-visual assets.
- Produce, edit and distribute media content as required.
- Execute video and photo shoots on site/on location including lighting, audio, camera operation and talent direction.
- Work closely with internal clients to determine content and format of productions.
- Observe and promote brand standards.
- Conduct interviews with students, staff, faculty, alumni and campus visitors.
- Scout shoot locations and assess possible obstacles in filming.
- Use sophisticated software and hardware to edit and assemble final visual/audio program material.
- Maintain all equipment in proper working order.
- Attend meetings and offer development and production insight based on the requests.
- Establish protocol for archiving campus visuals.
- Provide digital photography for campus events and promotions.
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise professional and student staff.
- Provide a customer service approach to promote the “students first” initiatives.
- Follow workplace safety regulations.
- Immediately report unsafe work conditions and work-related incidents.
- Promote a safe and healthy work environment.
- Report work-related incidents within 24 hours.
- This position is designated as a “responsible employee” who has the authority to redress sexual violence.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's)
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends, holidays and evenings.
- Ability to adapt to and make recommendations based on the evolving technology landscape.
- Ability to oversee and create video content for social media platforms.
- Ability to develop suitable solutions and troubleshoot hardware and software.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage all aspects of assigned projects.
- Ability to find and produce quality stories in multimedia.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Expertise in operating Video Cameras, SLRs, lighting equipment, sound recording equipment, and editing.
- Excellent communication, writing, interpersonal, planning and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of new computer technologies and editing software.
- Knowledge of multimedia and news gathering techniques.
- Knowledge of high quality encoding techniques for online distribution of videos.
- Extensive knowledge of media and motion graphics software.
Required Education
Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree with experience that equates to an advanced degree.
Experience Required
- Previous experience producing and planning professional-level multimedia programming.
- Experience in scriptwriting, producing, directing and interviewing for video production.
- Technical experience in videography, photography, lighting design, and computer video editing.
Salary Information
Starting at $64,000, commensurate with education and experience.
