Payroll Title: Grant Writer

Division & Department: Education

Status: On-Call Hourly

Reports to: Director of Funding

Location: Remote – Anywhere in the contiguous US

Compensation: Anticipated compensation for this position is $29-30/hour.*

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Grant Writer to research, develop, and submit grant proposals to secure funding for K-12 education programs. The ideal candidate will have experience in grant writing, knowledge of the K-12 education landscape, and a track record of securing funding from state and federal agencies.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Research and identify grant opportunities from state and federal agencies that align with K-12 education initiatives.
  2. Write compelling grant proposals to secure financial support.
  3. Work collaboratively with the Funding Department to develop highly competitive proposals.
  4. Effectively manage projects to ensure timely submission of proposals.
  5. Maintain a database of grant applications, deadlines, and reporting requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Education, Nonprofit Management, or a related field
  2. 3+ years of experience grant writing

Preferred Skills & Experience

  1. Strong understanding of K-12 education programs and funding sources
  2. Exceptional writing, editing, and research skills
  3. Proven grant writing experience in the education or nonprofit sector
  4. Knowledge of federal and state education grants
  5. Familiarity with grant databases such as Grants.gov
  6. Ability to manage multiple grant applications simultaneously and meet strict deadlines
  7. Strong organizational and project management skills
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Asana
  9. Experience working with school districts, education nonprofits, or government agencies
