The Three Rivers Regional Library System provides library services to multiple counties in Southeast Georgia. The Hog Hammock Public Library is a branch of this system, offering a variety of resources and programs to the local community.

Job Summary/Overview:
The Library Manager is responsible for the overall management and daily operations of the Hog Hammock Public Library, a branch of the Three Rivers Regional Library System. This position provides leadership to staff, ensures excellent customer service, develops and implements library programs, manages the library collection, and fosters positive relationships with the community.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
Staff Management:
- Supervise, train, and mentor library staff, including hiring, evaluating performance, and addressing disciplinary issues.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Develop and implement staff schedules and work assignments.
Circulation Management:
- Oversee circulation procedures and ensure efficient handling of library materials.
Collection Development:
- Assist in the selection and acquisition of library materials.
- Manage the library collection, including weeding, inventory, and preservation.
- Ensure the library collection meets the needs of the community.
Community Engagement & Programming:
- Plan and implement library programs and events for all ages.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners.
- Promote library services and resources to the community.
- Actively participate in community outreach activities.
Budget & Resource Management:
- Monitor expenditures and ensure the efficient use of funds.
Technology & Innovation:
- Oversee the use of technology in library operations, including online resources, databases, and digital services.
- Explore and implement new technologies to improve library services.
Customer Service:
- Ensure excellent customer service is provided to all library patrons.
- Resolve patron complaints and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Other Duties:
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or other supervisors.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
Required Experience:
- At least one year of experience in a library setting is required.
- At least one year of management or supervisory experience is required. This experience does not need to have been in a library setting. While three years of library experience, including supervisory experience, is preferred, we will consider candidates with management experience from other fields.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in leading and supervising staff.
- Proven ability to manage operations effectively.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of library trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Experience with library software.
- Strong commitment to public service and community engagement.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a related field (e.g., Library Science, Education, Public Administration, Business).
- Experience working in a public library.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of the local community.
Physical Demands:
The work is typically performed intermittently sitting, standing, and walking. Ability to lift and carry library materials, including books and boxes, which may weigh up to 50 lbs.
Transportation to and from the library will be via the ferry operated by the University of Georgia Marine Institute on Sapelo Island.
The work is typically performed in a library setting. This position requires occasional travel (approximately one day per month, with two days per year being required) for region-wide training and meetings.
The Hog Hammock Public Library Manager is responsible for daily operations, staff leadership, and providing exceptional customer service. This role includes program development, collection management, and building community partnerships.
