POSITION OVERVIEW


As an Interior Designer/Project Manager, you’ll be involved in every stage of the design process—from concept to project completion. While design is at the heart of this role, it also involves a significant amount of project management. We’re looking for a strategic thinker with proactive drive, strong organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to follow-through.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include but are not limited to:


  • Support the design and implementation of high-end residential projects from concept through completion.
  • Develop detailed technical drawings and models using AutoCAD.
  • Contribute to the development of design concepts, including furniture and finish selections, custom furniture development, and sourcing materials such as finishes, plumbing fixtures, and decorative hardware.
  • Prepare and present client-facing materials, including drawings, mood boards, material flat lays, and visual presentations.
  • Create proposals and purchase orders using Houzz/Ivy.
  • Manage project scopes, including prioritization, budget oversight, timelines, and scheduling.
  • Maintain clear and effective internal communication and provide regular project updates.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with vendors, architects, general contractors, builders, and tradespeople to ensure all design elements are executed seamlessly and according to plan.



QUALIFICATIONS


  • This is a full-time position with standard office hours, but flexibility is required for occasional overtime to meet deadlines. Ability to travel for out of state projects as needed.
  • Reside in the Chicago area with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Candidates relocating to the area will also be considered.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture.
  • 4-8 years in residential interior design; experience with large scale new construction, extensive renovations and familiarity on a construction site.
  • A portfolio that showcases both your technical skills and your creative vision.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Proficiency with a PC, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop), Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace. Experience with Houzz/Ivy ideal and Revit is a bonus.
  • Expertise in material sourcing, specifications, and managing custom furnishings.
  • Experience mentoring junior designers and supporting or leading small project teams through all phases of design and implementation.
  • Current driver's license with reliable transportation.
