PGS Worldwide is actively seeking a skilled Technical Writer to support ongoing projects for an Aerospace leader in Sterling Heights, MI. This is an initial 9-month contract-to-hire opportunity and I will respond immediately to all qualified candidates.
Job Description:
Review and mark up technical documentation using state-of-the-art publishing software technology. Documentation includes product descriptions, detailed functional descriptions, operating procedures, fault isolation, maintenance, and repair procedures, illustrated parts breakdown, miscellaneous reports, proposals, marketing literature, or other technical documentation pertaining to company products. Ensure compliance with customer requirements, government specifications, engineering standards, and language usage principles. Conduct independent (peer) reviews of the developed technical publication content using approved Style Guide and editing checklist. Concisely convey areas of concern to writer to address found issue. Document comments as directed by project lead (e.g. pen-and-ink, comment sheet, PDF markup). Ensure documents conform to company and government standards, specifications, and language usage principles. Provide editing comments/markup (text and illustrations) to production group for resolution of comments.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing or equivalent discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, plus 2 additional years of relevant experience.
- US Citizenship
- Working knowledge of publication software.
- Ability to understand technical documentation of limited scope and complexity, provide guidance to cross-functional team members, and ensure documents are produced on time.
- Ability to concentrate, and strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, and command of the English language. MS Office Tools/Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint required)
- Adobe Acrobat Professional PDF Software - proficient for use of illustration markups; or use of a similar PDF (electronic) markup tool
- Basic Mechanical/Electrical/Operator knowledge, preferred in the defense industry Content Management System (CMS) experience a plus
- Ability to work with a diverse team in several physical locations
- Ability to lead small teams is preferred Basic understanding of Interactive Electronic
- Technical Manual (IETM) functionality preferred Familiarity with relevant military and commercial standards
