Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated
Technical Writer II
to create and revise complex technical documentation supporting the marketing, operation, repair, and maintenance of company products. In this role, you will ensure documents adhere to company standards, government specifications, and language principles.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and revise technical documentation, including functional descriptions, operating procedures, fault isolation, repair procedures, illustrated parts breakdowns (IPB), reports, proposals, and marketing literature. Ensure documentation meets company standards, customer requirements, government specifications, and language usage principles. Research and consult with engineering teams to gather technical data for creating or revising documents. Analyze and interpret engineering drawings and technical data to translate into understandable documentation. Assist project writers with validating procedures for equipment. Review illustrations and graphics to determine how best to incorporate them into documentation. Request creation or revisions to visuals as needed. Contribute to project evaluations by providing input on time and cost estimates. Collaborate on the design and formatting of technical documents, ensuring consistency and usability. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and best practices. Foster a safe work environment and adhere to safety objectives and policies. Skills and Experience Required:
Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, mechanics, electronics, and system operations. Proficiency in publication software and technical writing tools. Ability to translate complex engineering designs into accessible, clear language for non-engineers. Experience in writing technical documentation with limited scope and complexity. Problem-solving skills and experience working with cross-functional teams. Detail-oriented with strong command of the English language. XML Authoring Tool experience (e.g., Arbortext Epic Editor, Oxygen Software). Proficiency in MS Office Tools/Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Access is a plus). Adobe Acrobat Professional PDF Software proficiency for electronic markups or similar tools. Prior experience in mechanical/electrical/operational technical writing, ideally in the defense industry. Validation/Verification, on-vehicle experience is a plus. Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS). Strong customer interaction and service skills (some positions may involve direct customer interface). Ability to work collaboratively in a team across multiple locations. Basic understanding of interactive electronic technical manual functionality, development processes, and markup languages is preferred. Familiarity with relevant military and commercial standards is a plus. Skills Preferred:
Previous experience in the defense or automotive industries. Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 2 additional years of relevant technical writing experience. Preferred Experience:
Experience in the defense industry. Experience in the automotive industry.
Pay Range: $39.00 - $43.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
