The Instructional Designer will support a Knowledge Management Team in developing comprehensive, standardized training programs for the Service Dispatch and Crew Dispatch groups, which perform a critical and challenging role within the company, dispatching crews for both emergency and non-emergency situations. This role involves creating, maintaining, and improving all training materials and process documentation to support the efficiency and effectiveness of both dispatch organizations. New hires in the dispatch groups must complete rigorous training on Gas and Electric commodities (taught separately), along with specialized technology training on performing critical functions within the company’s dispatching system. The Instructional Designer will work closely with a dedicated SME to develop, update, and maintain training solutions in alignment with company priorities. These solutions will include a combination of instructor-led training, eLearning modules, process workflows, and procedural documentation. Responsibilities: Oversee instructional design projects for FSD/Electric Regional Operations. Collaborate with stakeholders, SMEs, and designers to define goals, create project plans, track progress, and evaluate results. Build strong partnerships with clients, subject matter experts, and project teams to ensure training solutions align with business needs. Identify stakeholders and engage them in the design process. Develop and manage training programs, including eLearning, instructor-led training, process workflows, procedural documentation, and technical training. Apply instructional design best practices to create engaging and effective learning experiences. Review and enhance existing training materials within the Crew Dispatch document library, ensuring alignment with current processes, procedures, and instructional design best practices. Develop training materials from scratch for workgroups with no existing training or documented processes. Expand eLearning initiatives to enhance self-paced training opportunities and reduce reliance on instructor-led training. Create engaging eLearning modules and animations focused on technology training for the company’s dispatching system. Develop and maintain training programs for both new hires and existing employees to ensure competency in both Gas and Electric dispatch operations. Integrate knowledge checks and competency assessments with pass/fail criteria to evaluate learners’ ability to perform job functions. Develop comprehensive training manuals and student guides to support learning objectives.
