About this opportunity:
Receives, researches, locates, analyzes, prioritizes, prepares complex grant applications; writes narratives, prepares reports and compiles required paperwork to maximize opportunities for financial support for new and/or existing programs. Performs identified administrative duties for the divisional development department.
Key responsibilities:
- Receives funding opportunity leads from Resource Development Directors; research requirements for the grant to confirm Salvation Army eligibility; acknowledges deadlines; evaluates and prioritizes detailed research processes.
- Researches, explores, locates, and develops new funding sources; determines if The Salvation Army can qualify for the potential grant; seeks funding opportunities via various avenues to support field initiatives.
- Prepares complex grant documents by clearly and effectively writing program narratives, rationale for requests and proposals for submission; prepares contracts and agreements for approval.
- Maintains awareness of all local funding goals and budgets; works closely with the resource development and finance staff to ensure that funding and reporting needs are satisfied; coordinates efforts with other CRD and local staff to prevent duplication of efforts.
- Researches, develops, writes, and submits foundation and corporate grants; completes required reports set by foundation guidelines; reviews guidelines and ensures report compliance; maintains donor relations with funders.
- Contacts current or potential funders to answer questions about programs and services, and/or seek information about a pending grant opportunity.
- Develops and writes contractual/collaborative agreements and proposals with other organizations; obtains necessary approvals from Divisional Headquarters and Territorial Headquarters.
- Maintains manual and/or automated records via an established database of all Divisional grants and the status of each; inputs and updates pertinent grantor information; ensures the accuracy and completeness of all records.
- Prepares and/or reviews United Way grants; works with all units in preparing written documents for United Way presentation and coordinates presentations of programs and budgets for the United Way; assists units in developing outcome-based measurements and devises monitoring system to assist units in determining success with determined outcomes.
- Collects data and prepares various reports as requested or scheduled by the Divisional Resource Development Director.
- Manages external registries for Salvation Army use by inputting information into established systems.
- Performs internal communication mostly through email to maintain the department’s advisory board record system.
- Inputs data in the Salvation Army’s constituent relationship management system of record assisting in maintenance of a strong and accurate donor record system.
- Performs other related work as required.
What we are looking for in you:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Marketing, or related field
- Four years of experience writing technical reports and/or researching and applying for grant funds
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills or abilities
- Drivers License
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
- Ability to perform mathematical computations.
- Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull (less than 25lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment. Light mobility: duties are usually performed by a combination of standing, walking, and primarily sitting.
- Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
