POSITION SUMMARY : The Creative Manager, Development Communications is a core member of the Development team of Boston Medical Center. Reporting to the Senior Director of Development Communications and Engagement, the Creative Manager, Development Communications is responsible for successfully crafting creative strategies and standards for a wide range of media formats including web, mobile, email, video, signage and print to support Development goals. This position will serve as the foundation for creative content management within the Development office, working collaboratively across the team as well as BMCHS Marketing and Communications and division leaders. They will drive content creation in alignment with BMCHS strategy and the advancement of Development Office goals related to cultivating and stewarding donors at all levels. The ideal candidate is an effective collaborator and leader of other creatives with well-developed critical thinking skills and the capacity to process, react to, and solve problems in a timely manner as they arise. They must be able to lead creatives by working effectively and collaboratively to bring Boston Medical Center Health System’s brand to life through various channels. Must be able to generate, gather, and present creative recommendations confidently and effectively to senior leadership for internal buy-in. The ability to ensure an accurate, consistent, and compelling experience of the brand in all media is essential to this role. Position: Creative Manager Department: Development Communications Schedule: Full Time ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES: Primary responsibilities include: Establish and execute on the creative strategy for the Development office working in close collaboration with Boston Medical Center Health System’s (BMCHS) Marketing and Communications department. Understand business goals and strategies to align creative strategy and drive organizational priorities. Conceptualize, plan, design and produce materials in print and electronic/digital form (e.g., print collateral, videos, motion graphics, social & digital media) ensuring BMCHS brands are brought to life consistently and accurately. Create strong conceptual design and visual identities for centerpiece campaigns and events, including but not limited to year-end giving campaigns, large signature fundraisers, giving days, and more. Manage freelance and in-house creatives, providing support, guidance and feedback to ensure they follow BMCHS graphic standards and produce high-quality work. Lead the art direction and formatting of design deliverables and produce necessary communications pieces in both print and digital environments for a wide range of clients. Build and support internal client relationships across different functional areas in order to ensure the vision and impact of communications is aligned with Development and organizational strategic goals and objectives. Cultivate strong, collaborative working relationships with BMCHS marketing creatives. Serve as lead designer on high-value, customized proposal and donor stewardship reports, board materials, and more. Coordinate with Development web team to ensure website and email campaigns are creative, compelling, and visually consistent with BMC’s brand. Develop and manage tools and templates that allow Development colleagues to create materials within the style guidelines. Oversee production, proofing, and delivery of print projects, coordinating as needed with printer, mail house, and other outside vendors to ensure deadlines are met. Creatively seek out and maintain cutting-edge industry knowledge of trends, tools, and technology. Must adhere to all of BMC’s RESPECT behavioral standards. JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual arts, new media, or other related field required. Graduate degree preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: None EXPERIENCE: 8 to 10 years of professional design or production experience (e.g. graphic, interactive, photo, video) required. Experience working in a visual design function for nationally known organizations or agencies preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs): Possess strong conceptual skills, high level sense of design, layout and typography, a broad thinker who can offer a variety of design solutions. Strong management skills to lead freelance and in-house creatives. Understanding of marketing principles supporting the ability to manage a brand’s visual identity effectively and to develop impactful marketing creative. Ability to oversee all design elements, from the initial conception to final delivery with minimum supervision. Expert understanding of brand identity development and ability to apply style guide creatively while maintaining brand standards. Demonstrated success collaborating, partnering, and leading at all levels and across all functions of the organization. Proven ability to manage large projects, meet deadlines and produce deliverables in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud including but not limited to Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects.
