Job Description:

85% Graphic Illustration

Creating new and editing existing graphics for a variety of projects including but not limited to assessment graphics, graphics for animated videos and tutorials and using illustrator to create digital graphics for web-based platforms.

15% Other Duties as Assigned

Attend team meetings and submit project status updates in a timely manner. Assist with other center responsibilities when assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Previous work experience that required the use of Adobe Illustrator, as evidenced in application materials.

Experience with Microsoft 365, specifically Excel and Word, as evidenced in application materials.

Previous work experience that required the use of graphic design principles of layout, contrast, balance, and typography, as demonstrated in application materials.

Previous work experience that required creating simplified vector graphics with an understanding of form and shape as demonstrated by examples provided in portfolio.

Previous work experience that required strong attention to detail, as demonstrated in application materials.

Previous experience that required working at a fast pace and meeting tight deadlines,as demonstrated in application materials.

Previous experience that required following established processes in a style guide.

Previous experience that required a willingness to learn, and adjustment of work as needed through constructive criticism, demonstrated in application materials.

Experience effectively communicating with clients and co-workers directly and through email, as demonstrated in application materials.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous graphic design experience, as evidenced in application materials.

Experience preparing graphics for animation, as evidenced in application materials.

Previous work experience with SVG graphics, as evidenced in application materials.

Experience working with an organized graphics library, as demonstrated in application materials.

Experience working with Adobe Photoshop, as evidenced in application materials.

Experience working with MacOS, as demonstrated in application materials.

Position Overview:

Assessment & Technology Solutions (https://ats.ku.edu/) (ATS), a center in the Achievement & Assessment Institute (https://aai.ku.edu/) (AAI), helps public agencies develop high-volume, highly scalable, and multi-device-compatible Software as a Service (SaaS) web applications to meet public needs. Our flagship program is the Kite® Suite, a SaaS-based testing platform used by multiple state departments of education. Incorporating the latest innovative software technology solutions, the Kite Suite can deliver a variety of test items, including custom simulation and technology-enhanced item types, in a variety of ways so that students with a wide range of skills and abilities can access the assessments and their related content.

ATS is seeking a Graphic Designer to produce a high volume of quality graphics in support of these assessments and other center projects. The Graphic Designer will work closely with other senior Graphic Designer team members to create a variety of multimedia deliverables. Current projects include the development of graphics for assessments.

The successful candidate will have the ability to collaborate with multiple teams across the center, taking written or spoken ideas and converting them into a design that connects.

The total hours worked will be determined by the selected candidate and the supervisor.

Due to complex state employment laws, the University of Kansas may be unable to hire fully remote workers for this position outside of Kansas.
