Communications Officer

New York, NY Hybrid - 3 days on site

Position Overview Be a part of a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing care for older adults, ensuring their needs are met while preserving their independence and dignity. As the Communications Officer, you will be responsible for developing and managing editorial content, media partnerships, and major communications projects, supporting the organization's overall communications strategy through writing, editing, media relations, and coordinated campaigns with grantees.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the development, execution, and assessment of the organization's communications strategy and initiatives

Write editorial content such as blogs, articles, and op-eds; craft copy for digital platforms including the website, social media, and email; oversee content creation by team members; and edit and proofread internally and externally produced materials

Oversee relationships with select communications consultants and vendors

Manage sponsored media partnerships and marketing campaigns, acting as the primary point of contact and initial reviewer of all materials

Draft and refine speeches and presentations for organization's staff in collaboration with the Communications Associate

Provide strategic communications support to grantees by reviewing materials, offering feedback, and coordinating the promotion of events, reports, and other grantee initiatives

Build and maintain relationships with reporters, manage media relations, and draft press releases with consultant support

Assist in tracking analytics and driving continuous quality improvement

Qualifications

A master's degree or higher is preferred

Extensive experience in communications (5+ years), particularly in health care communications

Strong personal commitment to advancing the organization's mission and objectives

Relevant expertise or knowledge in aging, health care policy, philanthropy, and the non-profit sector

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work efficiently under deadlines

Outstanding editing and proofreading abilities

Proven experience managing projects and editorial calendars

Skilled in media outreach, including pitching stories and building relationships with journalists

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

Excellent interpersonal skills-articulate, collaborative, and adept at fostering productive relationships with colleagues, partners, and consultants

Embraces working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives

Highly organized, adaptable, and creative, with strong skills in managing projects, people, and time; capable of independent thinking and balancing multiple priorities

Sound judgment and maturity, with the ability to make informed decisions, solve problems, justify recommendations, and communicate clearly and responsively

Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, accurately, and with a quick turnaround

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Mailchimp and Trello preferred; an interest in AI is a plus

Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment while also managing independent projects

Bilingual reading and writing skills are a plus

Compensation

Salary: $120,000-$140,000
