Job Description:
The State University of New York at Fredonia is seeking a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in Music (Guitar). The successful candidate will be prepared to teach applied lessons, pedagogy, recital seminar, group guitar class for music majors, guitar ensembles, and guitar courses for non-guitar majors. This position is eligible for our generous benefit and retirement plans along with competitive salary compensation.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic and collegial team of faculty and staff committed to expanding the boundaries of music in higher education. This is a full-time, 10-month position, beginning on or before August 21, 2025. Some evening and weekend work will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate studio lessons in guitar;
- Contribute to development and revision of courses and curricula in music performance and guitar;
- Support student retention and success through academic advising;
- Be active as a recruiter for the School of Music;
- Participate in committees and provide service to the department, school, university, and profession;
- Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline with significant professional performance experience;
- Experience teaching undergraduate students;
- Ability to support student needs across multiple School of Music degree programs;
- Facility with classical and jazz styles;
- Commitment to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents.
