Job Summary:
Blue Harlan is the recruitment partner to a start-up company based out of FL (in year 3) and setting up a small facility in Loveland, CO. This Thin Film Engineer with expertise in magnetron sputtering will focus on the development, optimization, and characterization of thin-film deposition processes for applications in [industry-specific applications, e.g., semiconductors, optics, or protective coatings]. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with sputtering systems, process development, and material characterization techniques.
This is an opportunity to be involved in the R&D phase before production begins. This technology is new, it's GREEN and impactful!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates coating equipment for the production and development of energetic Thin Film coatings
- Performs chamber and materials preparation, substrate loading, and coating startup and finish
- Monitors coating and chamber parameters to ensure the process is under control
- Optimize parameters to ensure coating quality, uniformity, and adhesion
- Perform various analysis of coated materials
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors degree in Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or any other related subject that had a strong focus on glow discharge processes
- 5 years of experience working directly with vacuum coaters – large drum coater preferred
- Extensive magnetron sputtering experience
- Attention to detail: Excellent focus and the ability to follow precise procedures.
- Problem-solving skills: The ability to troubleshoot equipment or process issues.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel
- US Citizenship
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Masters degree in Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related subject
- Familiarity with thermites and pyrotechnics
