Your role in helping us shape the future:
U.S. News empowers everyone to thrive. We are seeking a sharp auto Insurance Reporter to empower consumers with the knowledge needed to make the best auto insurance-related decisions.
The Insurance Reporter is responsible for writing insightful, actionable articles about auto insurance companies and the industry, such as the best car insurance companies (at the national and state level), reviews about individual car insurance providers, articles comparing two providers against each other, and other general auto insurance topics. You will work with the car insurance editorial team along with the assistant managing editor for insurance to identify which topics to write about and how best to maintain the library via regular content updates.
Strong writing and communication skills are required, and a background in auto insurance writing is a must.

- You are a recognized subject matter expert in the auto insurance field, as demonstrated through your writing samples, online profile and/or media clips.
- You are able to translate difficult or dense insurance topics into easy-to-read and actionable articles.
- You have your finger on the pulse of the auto insurance industry and can bring ideas for new content, content updates and general content strategy as developments arise.
- You are excited about helping to guide our auto insurance content strategy.

Position Requirements
You should definitely have:
- Five years to eight years of journalism experience, with a background in the auto insurance space.
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, a related degree or equivalent experience
- A strong knowledge of the insurance industry.
- Strong writing skills.
- Strong relationships with subject matter experts in the auto insurance space.
- An understanding of SEO concepts and best practices.
- The ability to multitask and work on tight deadlines in a fast-paced, digital environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Journalism or related degree or equivalent experience.
It would be nice if you had:
- Experience working in a content management system.
- Experience using Google Docs and Sheets.
- Familiarity with SEO tools.
- Experience with traffic analytics tools like Google Analytics.

- The anticipated base salary for this position is $75,000 to $100,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, interview performance, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
