General Statement of Duties

Parks seeks a reliable and customer-focused individual to join our team as a part-time employee. In this role, you will provide excellent customer service to park visitors, address inquiries, and ensure a positive experience for all patrons. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a friendly demeanor, and a passion for promoting a safe and enjoyable environment within our parks.

HOURS: Part-time employees work up to 30 hours per week. Some positions may work weekends, holidays, and evenings.

No benefits.

Events Specific Duties

  1. Perform daily operations of Parks Parking Lots and Parks events.
  2. Collect revenue and perform deposits per Parks Revenue Collection Procedures.
  3. Control traffic for the parking lot on special event days and other occasions as required.
  4. Prepare parking lot for special events and/or special occasions, including placing proper signage, bike racks, or chains to reserve specific areas.
  5. Assist employees by giving breaks, taking charge, and collecting revenue.
  6. Complete records and reports.
  7. Sell and issue monthly parking passes.
  8. Monitor the park property and resolve problems or concerns.
  9. Greet customers in a friendly manner, answer questions, and provide information to the best of your ability.
  10. Report any unusual occurrences to the appropriate supervisor or security officer.
  11. Report definite or potential hazards and unsafe conditions to the proper person.
  12. Alert staff to risks or potential accidents.
  13. Administer first aid required by an accident victim within the training limits of a Recreation Specialist.
  14. Provide the initial care needed to sustain life until qualified medical personnel take over.
  15. Activate, as required, the Central Riverfront's Emergency Action Plans.
  16. Observe and enforce all Commission Rules and Regulations.
  17. Project a positive image in both conduct and appearance.

Audio-Visual Specific Duties
  1. Provide audio and staging services at Sawyer Point.
  2. Set up stages and operate audio systems.
  3. Ensure that audio services are provided properly, safely, and per the policies & procedures of the City of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Park Board.
  4. Operate the various mixing boards and other audio equipment owned by the Cincinnati Park Board.
  5. Set up stages for various entertainment acts or speakers.
  6. Assist in loading and unloading of audio systems.
  7. Report to the Service Area Coordinator (SAC) and perform duties as directed.
  8. Schedule the use of Waterfront venues.
  9. Meet with event organizers to determine load-in and load-out times and to consult on audio equipment configurations.
  10. Monitor the use of Waterfront venues, including the comings & goings of event staff, volunteers, caterers, contractors, etc.
  11. Ensure all acts/performances maintain proper language and are always family-friendly.
  12. Enforce the Policies and procedures for the use of any Waterfront Venue.
  13. Report any unusual occurrences to the appropriate supervisor or security officer.
  14. Report definite or potential hazards and unsafe conditions to the proper person.
  15. Alert staff to risks or potential accidents.
  16. Complete records and reports.
  17. Submit reports promptly.
  18. Administer first aid required by an accident victim within training limits, if needed.
  19. Activate, as required, the Waterfront Emergency Action Plans.
  20. Observe and enforce all Park Board Rules and Regulations.
  21. Project a positive image in both conduct and appearance.

Required Education And Experience
  1. Must be eighteen (18) years of age and a high school graduate, and have a valid driver's license.

Desired Education and Experience
  1. Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  2. Friendly and approachable demeanor.
  3. Ability to handle challenging situations with tact and diplomacy.
  4. Basic computer skills for data entry and communication.
  5. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed.
  6. Knowledge of or interest in parks and outdoor activities is preferred.
  7. Basic math skills.
  8. Knowledge of cash control procedures.
  9. Ability to use a cash register.
  10. Previous working or educational experience as a sound technician.
  11. Possess a degree or certificate in music, audio engineering, or a similar field.
  12. Previous experience running a front-of-house operation in the capacity of audio technician.
  13. Ability to communicate, in technical terms, with various bands, choral groups, and other entertainment industry individuals and groups.

Training Requirements

For some positions, employees must complete fifteen hours of training and/or pre-season orientation. Training topics may include, but are not limited to, CPR, First Aid, Back Safety, Fire Safety, Customer Service, Cultural Diversity, Sexual Harassment, Inclusion, and the Recreation Commission's Orientation for New and Returning Employees.


Working and Physical Conditions

Environmental Conditions: Indoor and outdoor environments; exposure to office computer screens; work on slippery or uneven surfaces; work in or around water; exposure to poison flora, insects, or other animal diseases; exposure to extremes in weather conditions (all types of weather); exposure to human health issues; exposure to various chemicals (ex. water-quality testing chemicals); at times will work alone at parks and nature centers.

Physical Conditions: Responsibilities and duties require maintaining the physical condition for sitting, standing, climbing, and walking for prolonged periods and leading hikes over varied terrain, including steps and hills. Occasional light or moderate lifting and carrying required; occasionally required to use hands to finger, occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, ability to distinguish colors, and the ability to adjust focus; must speak clearly and audibly.
