Description of Position

This position supports all facets of the Jim & Linda Lee Performance Arts Center’s (J&LLPAC) marketing and communications activities, with an emphasis on audience development and community accessibility. The work includes creating targeted outreach strategies tailored to the region's evolving demographics, moving beyond traditional marketing approaches. This involves preparing audience-specific strategies for performances to attract diverse communities, designing innovative social media campaigns, and managing internal communications. The goal is to foster broader engagement and help the J&LLPAC achieve its annual revenue goals while promoting the sale of tickets.

Due to the unique nature of the J&LLPAC, which integrates academic programming with community engagement, this position reports to both the Associate Dean of the performing arts academic unit and the Director of Operations of the Performing Arts Center. Additionally, the position collaborates closely with the foundation to support corporate sponsorship initiatives by providing marketing assets, maintaining sponsorship visibility on the website, and ensuring effective communication. However, responsibility for soliciting sponsorship remains with the foundation.

The position duties include:

  • Develop and execute audience development strategies that promote inclusion and accessibility, focusing on engaging underrepresented demographics in the region.
  • Ensure all marketing efforts align with J&LLPAC’s mission to serve a broad and diverse community while supporting ticket sales and engagement goals.
  • Collaborate with programming to align audience outreach efforts with scheduled events and performances, respecting the distinct responsibilities of each role.
  • Strengthen connections with local cultural organizations and media outlets to expand promotional reach.
  • Oversee marketing and audience engagement efforts to ensure inclusivity and relevance to the region's dynamic population.
  • Manage all aspects of publicity and advertising materials including website, social channels, digital flyers, posters, and press releases.
  • Possess strong leadership and multitasking skills, with an innovative and creative approach.
  • Actively track, manage, and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing strategies.
  • Be personable and connect with people from a variety of different backgrounds and demographics.
  • Prepare and disseminate media advisories and media releases to promote both J&LLPAC and upcoming department performances.
  • Serve as the lead communications and marketing professional for the J&LLPAC, including working with media inquiries.
  • Plan and execute all program marketing including video promotions and projects, web pages, Playbill, bathroom art, and TGR pyramid (weekly ticket sales pricing; inventory management; dynamic pricing).
  • Manage all printed materials' timelines, design, and distribution including press releases, posters, and postcards.
  • Assist with day-of-performance logistics.
  • Manage the website and all J&LLPAC digital advertisements and boards.
  • Develop and manage all digital/email communications and send out the weekly e-blasts.
  • Develop the annual Patron retention loyalty plan/campaign.
  • Partner with the foundation to design and maintain sponsorship visibility materials, including website updates, design assets, and event recognition.
  • Review all artist and renter contracts for specific marketing guidelines and expectations and ensure all details are followed as written.
  • Oversee and review the marketing budget.
  • All other duties as assigned by J&LLPAC leadership.
