We are actively seeking an experienced Interim Director of Pharmacy (DOP) for a confidential opportunity at a smaller, community-focused hospital in Kansas City, MO. This position offers an immediate start and the chance to step into a leadership role for a temporary period. Please note, the current DOP is still in place, so confidentiality is crucial during the application and discussion process.

Duration: ~13 weeks+
Schedule: Monday - Friday, Day Shifts (8 AM - 4 PM)
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Operations: Oversee the day-to-day functions of the pharmacy as the working DOP / PIC, ensuring all workflows run smoothly and efficiently.
- Staffing & Management: Spend approximately 80% of the time handling staffing duties, including dispensing medications and supervising pharmacy staff. The remaining 20% will be focused on managerial tasks, overseeing operations, policies, and procedures.
- Medication Dispensing & Supervision: Dispense medications accurately and supervise the pharmacy team to ensure compliance with safety standards, proper use of medications, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborative Care: Work closely with interdisciplinary healthcare providers to optimize patient care and ensure safe and effective medication therapies.
- Inventory & Compliance: Oversee inventory management, ensure adherence to controlled substance regulations, and ensure pharmacy practices align with federal and state laws.
- Medication Safety: Ensure that medications are dispensed in a manner that promotes patient safety and minimizes the risk of medication errors.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Active Missouri Pharmacist License is required.
- Inpatient pharmacy experience is essential to the role.
- Supervisory experience is preferred, with a strong ability to manage pharmacy operations and a team.
- Must be willing to take on the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) responsibilities.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, patients, and healthcare providers.
- Ability to remain flexible, organized, and proactive in a fast-paced, community hospital setting.
