We are actively seeking an experienced Interim Director of Pharmacy (DOP) for a confidential opportunity at a smaller, community-focused hospital in Kansas City, MO. This position offers an immediate start and the chance to step into a leadership role for a temporary period. Monday - Friday, Day Shifts (8 AM - 4 PM) Key Responsibilities: Daily Operations:
Oversee the day-to-day functions of the pharmacy as the working DOP / PIC, ensuring all workflows run smoothly and efficiently. Staffing & Management:
Spend approximately 80% of the time handling staffing duties, including dispensing medications and supervising pharmacy staff. The remaining 20% will be focused on managerial tasks, overseeing operations, policies, and procedures. Medication Dispensing & Supervision:
Dispense medications accurately and supervise the pharmacy team to ensure compliance with safety standards, proper use of medications, and regulatory requirements. Collaborative Care:
Work closely with interdisciplinary healthcare providers to optimize patient care and ensure safe and effective medication therapies. Inventory & Compliance:
Oversee inventory management, ensure adherence to controlled substance regulations, and ensure pharmacy practices align with federal and state laws. Medication Safety:
Ensure that medications are dispensed in a manner that promotes patient safety and minimizes the risk of medication errors. Ideal Qualifications: Active Missouri Pharmacist License is required. Inpatient pharmacy experience is essential to the role. Supervisory experience is preferred, with a strong ability to manage pharmacy operations and a team. Must be willing to take on the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) responsibilities. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, patients, and healthcare providers.
