Description Technical work in the areas of preventive maintenance and component repair of telecommunications equipment/systems.

**Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description.

Essential Functions These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position.

Tests cable facilities to determine integrity of cable systems by operating specialized testing equipment. Installs data circuits such as local and wide area networks; installs video transmission systems such as closed circuit television and conference room audio/video; installs cable systems consistent with low energy electrical and fire codes; and installs 800Mhz radio equipment. Maintains standardized work methods, practices, guidelines, and schedules for the proper installation, maintenance, programming, modification, and repair of two-way radios, mobile data equipment, audio systems, video systems cable television equipment, structured cable systems, and associated electronic and support equipment. Evaluates equipment capability and length of service by analyzing system performance and makes recommendations. Performs preventive maintenance programs and tasks using standardized work practices Installs cabling systems, including copper, broadband coaxial, and fiber optic cable in work-stations, horizontal cabling, risers, and telecommunication rooms. Develops and maintains standardized work methods and schedule maintenance, troubleshoots, and performs bench repair of telecommunications equipment, including two-way mobile, portable equipment, fixed equipment, microwave, and paging equipment/systems. Provides and recommends stock level adjustments to reflect out-of-date parts and new parts to inventory for mobile and portable radios. Provides structured training and technical guidance to customers and other technicians. Submits periodic reports and maintains maintenance records on telecommunication equipment that has been repaired. Develops and modifies portable, mobile, and base radio program templates for Motorola radios to meet customer requirements. Creates queries, forms, and reports in databases as required. Maintains records of radios by updating databases. Monitors Motorola SmartNet radio system for proper functioning. Develops and modifies radio dispatch display consoles to meet customer requirements.

Performs other duties as assigned or as may be necessary.

In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.

Minimum Qualifications Completion of Associate's Degree in either Electronic or IT field and five (5) years related experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Additional Requirements Knowledge of fiber optic transmission and theory. Basic understanding of the concepts of networking, including the uses of LANs and WANs; dangers in interrupting or damaging a network system; safely exchanging or configuring cards and peripherals, software and hardware precautions. Must possess extensive knowledge of electrical, electronic, digital and analog, microwave, and satellite and electro-mechanical circuitry as it applies to troubleshooting technical equipment. Must be skilled in the use of electronic/electrical tools and test equipment for the modification and repair of telecommunication equipment. Must be skilled in the use of RF test equipment, computers and software to troubleshoot and program microprocessor controlled radios and infrastructure. Must be customer oriented. Experience and certification on Motorola two-way radio equipment, microwave equipment, paging equipment both trunked and conventional systems. Skills, knowledge and abilities with special consideration in the area of 800 MHZ trunking systems are preferred. Must also possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License. Must be familiar with various test equipment. BISI FCC Motorola Fiber training is desirable. County-paid benefits for employees
