Department: Communications and Marketing

Purpose of Department:

The Department of Marketing and Communications tells the story of WPU to prospective students, parents, and the greater community. This Department leads the integrated marketing efforts for the University in an effort to elevate and drive brand awareness and enrollment.

Summary of Position:

The Director of Integrated Marketing and Communications provides leadership to marketing team members, agencies and freelance associates in implementation of an integrated marketing and communications strategy to elevate and drive brand awareness, and support recruitment/enrollment and fundraising efforts. The Director is proactive, innovative, versed in all aspects of integrated marketing, and passionate about a private college education while implementing strategies and activities that enhance overall recognition of WPU. The Director utilizes current and innovative best practices in integrated marketing that should be applied toward primarily increasing awareness of and interest/application in traditional and adult programs at WPU.

Essential duties and responsibilities: • Develops, implements and manages the integrated marketing plan, consistent with the strategic goals, plans and aspirations of the University. This includes the website and all digital platforms, print and electronic materials and media relations efforts. • Serves as the University brand manager including the implementation and integration of a brand platform and identity. • Develops marketing campaigns for initiatives that support recruitment and fundraising activities. • Uses data to regularly measure effectiveness and develop ongoing plans for improvement. • Collaborates with the marketing team and other internal marketing partners (i.e. Advancement, Athletics) to effectively utilize all resources in the creation and implementation of marketing plans to best serve the University. • Supports the development and implementation of a proactive media relations strategy and program designed to enhance the image, reach and reputation of the college in the regional and national media, among the general public, and with other key constituencies. • Writes and edits copy for a variety of University platforms including enrollment materials, and ensuring those platforms adhere to WPU's brand guidelines. • Manages budget and resources. •• Represents the office on a variety of University committees.

Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in relevant field with 5 years of related experience • Significant knowledge and experience in integrated marketing and managing projects in a complex organization • Excellent marketing research, analytical and problem recognition skills. • Excellent oral, written, and visual communication skills. • Ability to understand, interpret, and use data and analytics to drive strategic efforts. • Skilled at budget and resource management. • Sound decision-making ability and good judgment. • Strong operational focus, strategically supporting growth and/or change.

Preferred Qualifications: • Masters in related field with 8 or more years of progressive experience including supervisory experience.
