The Asheville Tourists are seeking a Broadcast & Media Relations Manager to lead the organization in a new era of Asheville Tourists Baseball. The Tourists are the High A Affiliate of the Houston Astros. The historic franchise has been playing baseball in beautiful Asheville, NC for over 100 years. The team is currently undergoing a transformative 40 million dollar stadium renovation that will open in April 2026.
Responsibilities:

  • Call "Play by play" of all Tourists home games
  • Manage press box staff of 5 - 10 employees
  • Work all Asheville Tourists home games (66) and contribute to all road games (66)
  • Handle all media requests and press releases
  • Compile daily game notes for press box and media distribution
  • Write nightly game recaps for official website, social media and media
  • Create baseball content for website and social media, including player features, game highlights and more
  • Compile stat packs for field staffs and media members
  • Sell sponsorships, group outings and ticket packages through prospecting, networking and cold calling.
  • Target businesses and organizations for commitment to ticket packages that include season tickets, group packages, hospitality areas, all-inclusive suites, and mini plans
  • Managing and grow existing accounts
  • Creation and development of professional proposals and presentations
  • Provide excellent customer service to all accounts
  • Respond to and solve guest comments, questions, and concerns
  • Assist with the total operation of all McCormick Field events
  • Must be able to do basic physical functions such as clean, pickup trash and pull tarp in inclement weather conditions
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
