The Milken Institute's events and programmatic activities, involve the exchange of ideas with leaders from around the world. The Institute hosts more than 200 events each year, with our annual flagship event, Global Conference, bringing together 4,500+ participants from around the world, featuring more than 900+ speakers throughout 200+ sessions over the course of the event.

About the Position

We are seeking a highly experienced Systems Engineer to take ownership of video technology across our event spaces. This role involves programming and maintaining media servers, configuring signal routing, troubleshooting equipment issues, and serving as a technical bridge between end users and installed systems along with providing recommendations for improving installed systems. The ideal candidate has experience with video systems, media server programming, and AV signal flow, ensuring high-quality and reliable video solutions for various productions.

Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering support to Event Technicians in event spaces.
  • Stay informed of and suggest possible improvements for the system.
  • Program and maintain Vertex media servers.
  • Configure signal routing for video and AV systems across various spaces.
  • Keep equipment up to date and maintain functionality/updates of current hardware and
  • software.
  • Identify challenges with both systems and equipment and take ownership of solutions.
  • Ensure systems function as designed.
  • Act as an intermediary between technicians and installed video equipment.
  • Develop and implement solutions when equipment failures occur to ensure service continuity.
  • Translate production requests into actionable technical solutions.
  • Produce and maintain accurate technical documentation.
  • Duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years experience with video systems, media servers (Vertex and disguise), and AV routing
  • technologies.
  • Strong understanding of signal flow, video formats, and troubleshooting AV issues.
  • Proficiency in programming and configuring media servers for event productions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced event environment, balancing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills to liaise between technical teams and end
  • users.
  • Knowledge of video processing hardware, projection mapping, LED and live production
  • workflows.

Working Conditions & Travel Requirements

This position will work in a professional office environment on a hybrid schedule consisting of three (3) days per week reporting in-person to the Washington, DC office location (Tuesday - Thursday), with the remaining two (2) days working remotely. Please understand, this schedule is subject to change at the Institute's sole discretion.

This person will also be required to travel occasionally to other offices and/or venues to assist with events as needed, requiring occasional work outside of traditional hours. Additionally, this position requires interacting virtually on a regular basis with Milken Institute staff based in other locations in the United States and around the world.
