2月. 21, 2025 Job Summary: ESPN is seeking a Social Media Specialist I to work in a role that involves ideating, producing and distributing social content across more than 20 brand accounts and multiple social platforms. The ideal candidate thrives in a team environment and has a desire to continuously test and learn in an ever-evolving industry. This candidate will report to a Sr. Social Media Specialist or Social Media Manager. This role is highly preferred to be located in Bristol, CT. There may be an opportunity for this role to be located in Los Angeles, CA. Responsibilities:
Performs a wide variety of tasks to shape, create, and distribute content for fans across all ESPN brands on TikTok, Instagram, X, Snap, and Facebook. Discovers User Generated Content that resonates with ESPN Social’s audience and brand. Follows ESPN Social standards of practice, including adherence to reporting guidelines. Supports colleagues in “backreading” content: catching mistakes and optimizing for each platform. Utilizes social data to inform content decisions to increase engagement. On occasion and with supervision, co-leads brainstorming and planning social content for lower-tier events (ex: a player reaching a career milestone, HOF induction, etc.). Recognizes that sports happen on nights and weekends; such shifts will be regular and required. Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in social media or a closely related field. Fundamental content creation skills in social media ideation, copy, and video/photo editing. Sound knowledge that spans the sports landscape, including current athletes, rules, and storylines across multiple leagues. Must be comfortable with quick-turning content when news and live game action are occurring simultaneously. Strong understanding of internet culture and the role it plays in sports. Demonstrated communication and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated news judgment. Experience using video editing software (e.g. Final Cut, Premiere). Experience using photo editing software (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign). Knowledge and experience in creating sports content that intersects with topics like gaming, fashion, and pop culture for young fans, women fans, and casual, less-avid sports fans is a plus. Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Journalism, Communications, Media, or a related field. Compensation:
The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $58,630 to $78,650 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
