Events & Community Engagement Manager

Organization: Sertoma
Location: Knoxville, TN (On-site)
Reports To: Director of Development

Position Summary:

Sertoma is seeking a dynamic and motivated Events & Community Engagement Manager to oversee event planning, donor cultivation, sponsorship outreach, and community engagement efforts. This role is crucial in creating meaningful experiences that support Sertoma’s mission while fostering relationships with vendors, sponsors, board members, and donors. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong organizational and communication skills who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Event Planning & Execution
    • Manage all aspects of event planning, ensuring strict adherence to deadlines and budgets.
    • Build and maintain relationships with vendors, venues, volunteers, and community partners.
    • Stay ahead of industry trends to create innovative, engaging events that maximize impact.
    • Coordinate logistics for all events, including venue selection, catering, entertainment, marketing materials, and guest experiences.
    • Lead pre-event meetings and conduct site visits to ensure seamless execution.
    • Oversee event setup, on-site management, and breakdown while troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  2. Fundraising & Donor Relations
    • Solicit auction items, sponsorships, and in-kind donations to enhance fundraising efforts.
    • Assist in cultivating relationships with existing and prospective donors to support Sertoma’s mission.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Development on donor engagement strategies.
    • Maintain an organized database of donors, sponsors, auction contributors, and industry contacts.
  3. Community & Board Engagement
    • Represent Sertoma professionally at networking events and in community partnerships.
    • Assist in identifying and recruiting potential board members who align with Sertoma’s mission.
    • Ensure a welcoming and positive first impression for all stakeholders, including donors, sponsors, and volunteers.
    • Engage in public speaking and outreach to promote Sertoma’s impact and initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • Minimum of 1 year of professional work experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in a vape/tobacco-free environment.
  • Valid Tennessee driver’s license with a clean 3-year driving history.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field.
  • Experience in fundraising, donor relations, and community outreach.
  • Background in marketing and/or public relations.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit environment.
