\nPay Range: $36/hr – $40/hr
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior VFX Artist with Unreal Engine expertise to oversee and guide the quality of external partner-created VFX assets and support the environment art team with external partner management for an upcoming title. This role is critical in ensuring that partner studios deliver high-quality, optimized, and stylistically consistent visual effects that align with our client’s iconic aesthetic. Candidate will act as the primary liaison between internal teams and external partners, ensuring smooth collaboration, feedback implementation, and pipeline efficiency. Candidate may engage with a variety of external teams around the world and may require core hours that shift to accommodate external partner availability. This position will rely on your artistic and technical skills and experience in creating high quality game art. You will work alongside other artists responsible for concepting, building, updating, and polishing the game consistent with the vision, direction, calendar, and style to keep content fresh, dynamic, and exciting.
\nResponsibilities:

- Supervise Partner Studio Work: Provide creative and technical direction to external teams, ensuring their real-time VFX and environment assets align with the project’s visual and performance standards. \n
- Artistic & Technical Review: Offer detailed feedback, paint-overs, and guidance to maintain consistency with our client’s established art direction. \n
- Pipeline & Documentation: Develop and maintain best practices, style guides, and technical documentation to support external teams. \n
- Integration & Optimization: Review, test, and refine partner-created assets in Unreal Engine (Niagara) to ensure they function within the game’s performance constraints. \n
- Collaboration & Communication: Act as the bridge between internal and external teams, fostering clear communication, problem-solving, and alignment on expectations. \n
- Quality Assurance & Final Polish: Ensure all partner-created assets are fully optimized, bug-free, and seamlessly integrated into the game world. \n
Experience:
\n- \n
- 5+ years of experience as a VFX Artist in AAA game development, with a strong focus on external team oversight. \n
- Deep understanding of Unreal Engine’s Niagara VFX system and real-time rendering principles. \n
- Proven experience overseeing external partner teams, including feedback loops, quality control, and process alignment. \n
- Strong grasp of performance optimization, memory budgets, and LODs for real-time VFX across platforms. \n
- Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills to support external development success. \n
Ideal Candidate:
\n- \n
- Experience working on a sci-fi or first-person shooter (FPS) title. \n
- Familiarity with HLSL, shader development, and Blueprints for VFX. \n
- Experience developing and refining external development pipelines and vendor relations. \n
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $36/hr – $40/hr. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
