Summary THE OFFICE OF STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS IS SEEKING THE FOLLOWING INTERN:

We are looking for a self-starter interested in using engagement strategies to assist with Townwide initiatives. This internship will be an opportunity to experience the impact a career in local government while working alongside a high performing, energetic, and diverse team. The intern will be empowered to take on meaningful projects related to Town engagement initiatives. Potential projects may include, but are not limited to, planning, research, and direct community engagement related to townwide civic education and the Manufactured Home Leadership team.

This opportunity will expose students to experiences in career fields of interest in a local government setting. These positions are classified as temporary and do not qualify for benefits. Each department/division will have its own internship job description and duties.

Students will work on average 10 to 15 hours per week depending on schedules and the needs of the department. Each department can be flexible depending on the schedule availability of the student, but hours will generally fall between 8:30am and 5:00pm Monday through Friday and may include evenings/weekend work.

Benefits of an Internship Starting Salary

per hour Gain professional work experience by working on meaningful Town projects. Work in a positive, collaborative environment. You must first complete the pre-employment screening process before starting work. You may work up to

120 hours total during your internship. Employees in temporary positions

are not

eligible for Town benefits. Essential Functions

Some of the tasks that interns will be involved in will include:

Managing special projects Research Data analysis Creating correspondence Conducting surveys Clerical work including data entry tasks, filing, copying, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for an internship position with the Town of Chapel Hill, candidates must:

Be enrolled in an undergraduate program from an accredited college or university Possess good oral and written communication skills Be proficient with computers and software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint Be eager to learn and able to work independently
