Position Overview


As the State of Kansas repository for oil and gas and water well documents, this person will work in the Data Resource Library to enter data from paper records of old wells, scan documents for archival purposes, and presentation on the KGS public website. The task requires meticulous attention to detail and often requires research.
TEMPORARY positions with flexible hours, 30-40 hours per week, during business hours (8am-5p, Monday through Friday). These positions are funded through June 7, 2025, to work on a specific project, however the appointment(s) could be extended if additional funds become available. Job Description


90%: Organize and sort documents, enter data, scan documents and post to the KGS public website, quality check data and scans, file paper records.
10%: Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements


Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to push rolling bookcases in confined area, climb stepladders, and lift 15-20 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  2. Ability to work in storage areas, capable of working with old documents, which may be dusty, musty, or moldy, with or without reasonable accommodation.


Required Qualifications





  1. High School graduate/GED.

  2. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, as evidenced by application materials.


Preferred Qualifications





  1. Experience with databases, data entry and proof reading, as evidenced by application materials.

  2. Familiarity with or previous work experience with records filed by legal land description (section, township, range), as evidenced by application material.

  3. Background in earth sciences and/or archival work, as evidenced by application materials.
