The Books Core Shopping team is looking to hire an experienced product manager to drive CX development, new product initiation and improvements for the Worldwide Amazon Books (Print and Kindle) business. The primary goal is to understand customer needs, invent a better shopping experience, define requirements, and collaborate with designers and developers to conceptualize, test and implement new customer experiences and strategic programs.

The ideal candidate will be innovative, team oriented, an effective communicator, have experience with a wide range of discovery mechanisms and techniques such as search, personalization, machine learning, browse and discovery, purchase flows, and demand generation. We are seeking someone with a demonstrated history of success using customer behavioral data to identify and prioritize opportunities and building systems that scale across multiple surfaces such as desktop browser, mobile browser, and app experiences. We further seek candidates that exercise judgement and apply frameworks to prioritize activities and are familiar with A/B testing practices.

Responsibilities

Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

Identify new approaches to presenting product information aimed at improving customer discovery of books.

Translate ideas into innovative CX patterns on behalf of our customers.

Drive innovation aimed at improving customer experience as it relates to books in both digital and physical format.

Key job responsibilities

PM's in this role will be expected to act as the owner for a suite of live and forthcoming features designed to improve a customer's ability to shop for books. They will to identify problems frustrating customers in our shopping experience today and develop and execute strategies to address those pain points, including user experience design and data based evaluation techniques to ensure positive outcomes. Product Managers within the Books org are expected to think across formats (i.e. both print and digital), surfaces (1P e-readers, Kindle iOS/Android apps, mobile and desktop browsers), business models (Kindle Unlimited, Prime Reading, Kindle Direct Publishing, etc.) and marketplaces (10+ unique marketplaces) and in ways that scale across millions of unique titles.

A day in the life

Day to day activities include (1) working with design and development partners to conceptualize, implement, and test new customer experiences, (2) interpreting data to identify customer insights and making recommendations based on said data, (3) maintaining prioritized roadmaps of product development activities, (4) monitoring customer feedback for general satisfaction and emergent issues, (5) ensuring high quality in the customer experiences you own and the underlying data, (6) working with partner teams to present cohesive experiences with customers, (7) reporting on project status and risk identification and mitigation.

About the team

The Books Core Shopping team owns the customer experience for browsing, evaluating, and buying physical and digital books from a catalog of millions of titles across web, app, and first party device experiences.

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience

Bachelor's degree

Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

Experience with end to end product delivery

Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product

Experience managing technical products or online services

Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in using analytical tools, such as Tableau, Qlikview, QuickSight

Experience in building and driving adoption of new tools

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
