Job Description

NBC News Digital is looking for an experienced Supervising Video Editor to join its digital video production unit. The ideal candidate is a natural leader and a skilled visual storyteller. They should have proven short-form and long-form expertise and be comfortable working in a multi-platform digital production environment. They will manage a team of video editors in the daily production of various content to support NBC News Digital’s video production efforts. They should be passionate about news and storytelling and ready for a fast-paced environment.

Job Duties

  • Supervise a team of editors in executing a wide range of digital content including documentaries, explainers, interviews, breaking news, and emerging formats as we continue to innovate.
  • Provide technical direction, creative direction, feedback, and guidance to editors as needed.
  • Design, implement and maintain production standards, supporting documentation and style guides.
  • Liaise with senior leadership across various departments, including editorial, tech, and graphics on goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Advise and help manage edit assignments, production schedules, and workflow with operation and editorial teams.
  • Liaise with any post-production related freelancers or vendors.
  • Manage multiple projects and communication between stakeholders simultaneously, adhering to tight deadlines.
  • Capable of balancing editing assignments alongside leadership duties.
Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of professional experience as an editor or adjacent roles in digital video production.
  • Prior professional experience in a directorial and/or management position.
  • In-depth understanding of digital and editorial content production process.
  • Portfolio with extraordinary video content that shows expertise in video editing, visual storytelling, and digital production techniques across various platforms.
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Adobe Premiere.
  • Advanced knowledge of sound design and color correction.
  • Social media savvy and a passion and pulse on emerging technologies.
  • Experience with analytics, data-driven decision-making, and content distribution.

Desired Characteristics

  • Knowledge of Avid and DaVinci Resolve.
  • Experience in a broadcast production environment.
  • Experience shooting with a variety of professional video cameras, including DSLRs.
  • Experience shooting and lighting multi-cam shoots, both in the field and on location.

Additional Requirements

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
