Job Title: Library Media Specialist/Technology Teacher

Job Description:
The Library Media Specialist in Zion ESD 6 works as teachers, instructional leaders, instructional partners, and program coordinators who manage the daily functions of the Library Media Center (“learning commons” or “learning workshop”). They work with stakeholders to accomplish goals that include: 1) ensuring that all students and staff have opportunities to become effective creators, users, and curators of ideas and information 2) collaborating to design and implement information literacy and digital literacy instruction 3) working as part of the library team to develop a creative vision for the learning commons whose goals integrate with the school and district goals and 4) establish the learning commons as a central space for learning, making, critical thinking, and collaboration.

- Professional Educator License with Library Information Specialist endorsement(s) and/or Media endorsement

- Skilled in differentiating instruction to meet the learning needs of all students.
- Vision to design flexible spaces conducive to learning and creation.
- Knowledge of, or desire to learn about and implement Makerspaces.
- Contribute to curriculum design, implementation, and reflection.
- Knowledge of the PLC process and desire to participate in the PLC culture.
- Collaborate with teachers to design and integrate information and technology services into learning experiences.
- Develop a school library media program that addresses 21st-century skills.
- Remain current with standards for information and technology literacy.
- Ensure equitable access to information and learning resources.
- Participate in school improvement and accreditation activities.
- Model continual learning and personal/professional growth.
- Stay current in professional practices and developments in educational research.
- Maintain knowledge of Google Apps for Education, Chromebooks, and the Chrome browser.
- Collect and analyze data to evaluate the school library media program.
- Experience in evaluating and selecting print and digital resources.
- Integrate stakeholder voice into library programs.
- Establish and maintain community partnerships.
- Help develop a culture of positive digital citizenship.
- Maintain communication with stakeholders through various formats.
