Our client, a leading global intelligence provider serving specialist banking and financial markets, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Section Editor to drive editorial excellence and lead a team of journalists in its growing US start-up division. This newly created role offers a unique opportunity to shape content strategy and leadership within a high-growth, international newsroom.
What You’ll Do
Content Oversight:
- Set the content agenda, driving high-quality coverage on key financial themes.
- Oversee all section content, aligning it with commercial plans and business priorities.
- Edit and refine value-added content, including scoops, long-form articles, interviews, and commentary.
Content Contribution:
- Produce engaging, value-driven content and build a strong network of contacts.
- Lead by example in delivering best-in-class journalism.
- Manage and mentor a team of journalists, facilitating career development through regular performance reviews, training, and coaching.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance editorial environment.
- Serve as a senior leader within the editorial team, providing mentorship and advice to junior members.
- Deputize for the Managing Editor as needed, ensuring smooth editorial operations.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in a fast-paced market intelligence or niche B2B publication.
- Exceptional editing and writing skills with strong attention to detail and an innate news sense.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build a trusted network of off-the-record sources.
- Financial and numerical literacy, with a passion for finance and economic trends.
- Experience working in high-growth, scaling environments.
- A results-driven mindset, combined with a collaborative and ethical approach to journalism.
