Job Summary:
The Music Prep Instructor is responsible for supporting the music program by providing instruction in the Music Preparatory Division of the School of Music. The instructor will teach ECM classes, for students aged birth – five years and their caregivers.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
1. Provides instructional support to Music Prep’s ECM Program.
2. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years college coursework.
• Availability to complete online training related to Music Together curriculum prior to June 2025 and to start work in Summer 2025 (for on-the-job training prior to Fall 2025 classes).
Preferred Education & Experience:
• 4 years teaching experience, including teaching Music Together curriculum in classes for infants through 4 years of age.
Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
• Registered Music Together teacher or available for online training and 8-12 week in-class apprenticeship.
Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:
• None
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Ability to sing competently, in tune, and have a basic knowledge of music theory.
• Knowledge of customer service techniques.
• Knowledge of interpersonal communication techniques to interact with young children and their adult caregivers.
• Knowledge of instruction, facilitation, and training techniques as applied to music.
• Knowledge of technological applications appropriate to teaching music.
• Knowledge to apply student development theory.
• Skill in some or all components of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to teach students at various levels in class setting.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):
• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting on the floor.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.
Work Environment:
• Work is indoors, very active and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
