MDA Overview: At MDA, we believe our biggest asset is our combination of different backgrounds, cultures, and disciplines united to form one high-performing team. By bringing together people from different backgrounds, perspectives, and generations, we ensure that we all have access to the opportunities, relationships, and resources necessary to learn, grow and thrive. What we do starts with our people and the neuromuscular disease community we serve. As America's largest voluntary health organization covering research, healthcare, and advocacy for people with neuromuscular diseases, MDA is leading the way in improving the quality of life for those living with muscular dystrophy, ALS, spinal muscular atrophy, and dozens of related disorders - many first discovered and diagnosed by MDA supported scientists and clinicians. Department Overview: The Communications & Marketing Department at the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) adopts a holistic approach to strategically implement and execute MDA's strategic plan across various audiences, platforms, programs, and pillars, as well as through strategic partnerships within each department. A critical role of the team is to protect and promote the MDA brand, ensuring its image and reputation are upheld while optimizing resources. The Communications & Marketing team collaborates closely with departments across the organization, including Fundraising, Advocacy, Mission, and Human Resources. As high-performing subject matter experts, the team leverages its knowledge to help the organization achieve its strategic goals. Position Description: The Vice President of Digital Media leads the development and execution of cutting-edge digital strategies, driving awareness, engagement, and operational excellence. This role reports directly to the Chief Marketing Officer and focuses on revolutionizing MDA's digital approach and enhancing the quality and consistency of our online presence. Additionally, the VP will temporarily oversee IT operations for an estimated period of 12 to 18 months to ensure stability and alignment with organizational objectives during this interim phase. What you'll do: Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a forward-looking digital strategy that aligns with MDA's mission and growth objectives. Lead the shift from consultant-driven initiatives to in-house capabilities, optimizing digital marketing investments, and increasing strategic control.
AI and Data Analytics: Leverage AI to enhance personalization, drive data-informed content decisions, and optimize digital fundraising efforts. Implement robust content management practices to ensure website information is accurate and up-to-date. Establish data-driven performance monitoring to refine strategies, boost engagement, and maximize conversion rates.
SEO and Content Optimization: Design a comprehensive SEO strategy to improve search engine rankings, attract more web traffic, and elevate user engagement. Collaborate with content teams to integrate SEO best practices across all digital content, optimizing it for search engines and user needs.
Social Media Management and Optimization: Develop and execute a social media strategy that builds brand awareness, drives engagement, and actively and consistently converts followers into active supporters. Implement optimization techniques to increase reach and interaction across platforms, utilizing social media analytics tools to track performance and inform adjustments. Lead efforts to create targeted social media campaigns that guide followers from awareness to meaningful actions, such as donations, event registrations, and volunteer sign-ups.
Content Management and User Experience: Ensure day-to-day content management and intuitive navigation to maintain a dynamic, up-to-date website that accurately reflects MDA's ongoing work. Improve user experience by regularly updating content, fixing broken links, and optimizing page layouts for engagement. Manage landing page development to support conversion goals, reduce the need for consultants, and increase internal capability.
Interim IT Operations and Security (12-18 Months): Oversee IT infrastructure to ensure stability, security, and alignment with organizational objectives during the transitional period. Enforce IT policies, standards, and procedures to maintain compliance and operational efficiency. Oversee the management of ongoing and emergent IT projects, including the integration of new technologies and systems if and when necessary to support business objectives.
