Job Description
The Desert Research Institute (DRI), Patrick Squires Research Library is looking for a Student Library Assistant to perform a variety of tasks to include: copying/scanning, shelving, retrieval of materials from the DRI and UNR Libraries, and other special projects as assigned. The successful candidate must have his/her own vehicle available and be willing to travel to DRI and other locations as needed (mileage is reimbursed). This position is located in Reno, NV.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent Basic computer experience with Word, Excel, Internet searches, and ability to use a scanner/copier A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record Insurance on incumbent's vehicle. Must be a UNR student in Spring 2025 enrolled in at least six credits Preferred Qualifications:
Previous library experience Compensation Grade:
$15/hr, no benefits
Schedule:
Work schedule is approximately 10-15 hours per week (Monday-Friday) between the hours of 8am and 5 pm.
Physical Requirements:
Requires physical ability to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, stand, or sit for prolonged periods of time; requires ability to lift and carry approximately 30 lbs.; travel to different site and locations
Conditions of Employment:
Employment is contingent upon the incumbent providing a copy of their DMV driving record and vehicle insurance.
An incumbent is not eligible for employment due to an unsatisfactory driving record. Examples of unacceptable infractions include but are not limited to:
Suspended or revoked license. Three or more moving violations in the past 36 months. Any violations involving drugs, alcohol, controlled substances, etc., withing the past 24 months. Leaving the scene of an accident within the past 24 months. Reckless driving within the past 24 months. At fault in an accident resulting in a fatality or serious injury within the past five years.
