This job will challenge you to …

  • Be adaptable to different story subjects and formats.

  • Maintain professional and ethical standards of performance.

You’re a good fit if you ...

  • Are plugged in to the 24/7 news cycle.

  • Can write quickly and accurately.

  • Have at least 5+ years of reporting experience.

  • Are willing to take regular feedback and editing from multiple editors.

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, political science or a related field.

  • Are curious, tenacious and respectful of your audience.

You’re an even better fit if you:

  • Can work on deadline and balance multiple projects at one time, both short and longform.

  • Have an understanding of Utah history and culture.

  • Can correctly pronounce "Deseret."

  • Are familiar with the Deseret News and its unique voice in the media marketplace.

  • Understand that your job is not just to write, but to be read.
