Description
The Library is seeking a Strategic Project Coordinator to oversee activities for six priority areas of the departmental strategic plan including a portfolio of projects that impact all Library divisions, 41 library locations, over 600 employees and more than 500,000 library cardholders. The primary work of this position includes responding to and resolving departmental issues related to strategic plan implementation and change management.

This position will report to the Strategic Services Division Manager and be a member of the senior leadership team. Additionally, this position will work collaboratively across the department engaging in high level facilitation of senior leaders including managers and supervisors.

Location and hours:

This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at library locations throughout Hennepin County and remote as job duties require. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

This is a full-time benefit earning position. You must be a current regular or probationary employeeof Hennepin County Library department to apply for this position. Limited duration employees not eligible.

In this position, you will:
  • Oversee activities of six priority areas of the departmental strategic plan including management of a portfolio of projects with department-wide impact.
  • Manage and engage in facilitation of managers serving as project sponsors for strategic plan activities.
  • Develop, respond to and resolve issues involving strategic plan implementation including change management strategies.
  • Oversee and facilitate a team of senior leaders who provide sponsorship to 20+ work teams and communities of practice.
  • Partner and engage with the departmental leadership team about goals and objectives for strategic plan activities.

Need to have:
  • One of the following:
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in business administration or other field appropriate to the position and five or more years of experience related to the position.
    • Nine or more years of experience in general administrative work related to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position.
      • General administrative work is defined as the administration and/or management of programs, policies, and/or budgets.

    • Leading department-wide change management initiatives.
    • Implementing strategic plans.
  • Ability to:
    • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
    • Managing multiple priorities and assignments.
    • Provide leadership and direction to colleagues who do not report to you.
