An established Wholesale Manufacturer of branded and licensed children's apparel in NYC is looking to fill a Technical Design position. The Technical Designer is responsible for developing and maintaining a consistent level of quality and fit for Children's Apparel.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with Design and Production teams to establish and maintain fit and construction standards to ensure brand consistency and quality
- Create spec packages for each style including correct grade rules and non-standard construction details
- Accurate measurement and evaluation of development, proto samples for spec, quality & workmanship
- Prepare and lead fit sessions with Design and Production Depts
- Communicate measurement, construction and workmanship comments to vendors, including providing detailed explanations, diagrams and/or patterns as needed
- Work with Production and Compliance Depts to ensure all products meet relevant children's safety requirements
- Answer questions via email regarding fit, specs, pattern and construction as needed
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience, childrenswear experience is preferred
- Must be proficient with 3D software, preferably Browzwear.
- Familiar with measuring sample points of measurement to ensure submitted samples are within tolerance of required specifications
- Strong knowledge of knit and woven garment construction
- Knowledge of patternmaking, sewing terminology and garment construction
- Have understanding of garment manufacturing and product development process
- Proficient in the use of Excel and MS Word; knowledge of Illustrator a plus
- Must be willing to work in the office 5 days/week.
