Job Purpose
The School of Human Ecology at Tennessee Tech University invites candidates to apply for a full-time, nine-month, non-tenurable faculty position at the rank of Lecturer to begin August 1, 2025. This full-time contract is renewable every three years.
Our School is home to approximately 220 students. We offer two Bachelor of Science Degrees: Human Ecology and Design Studies. Within Design Studies, we offer two concentrations: Architecture and Interior Design and Fashion Merchandising and Design.

Essential Functions
The School of Human Ecology seeks candidates committed to innovative teaching and creative service. The successful candidate will have experience in teaching undergraduate courses in design studies, design theory, universal design and interior design. In addition, the successful candidate must be proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud, Sketch UP Pro or other design software; and have a working knowledge of the current interior design profession. Expectations of this position include teaching four classes per semester, including design labs or studios, and meaningful service to the university, community and profession.

Commensurate with education and experience. Full-time, nine month, non-tenure-track position to begin August 1, 2025. Three-year contract renewable based on satisfactory performance review and needs of the department.

Minimum Qualifications
- A master's degree from an accredited institution in interior design, design studies, or closely related field by the appointment date
- Evidence of teaching excellence and knowledge of various teaching modalities
- Oral and written communication skills at a level appropriate to convey information to and from students, colleagues and others in a clear manner.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional experience and/or licensure in interior design
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and coordinating undergraduate design labs/studios in interior design
