Job Title: Civil Structural & Architectural Designer (CSA Designer)

Job Description

The CSA (Civil Structural and Architectural) Department provides design and support for project execution, including pipe supports, equipment installations, and regulatory permitting. This role involves designing and developing concrete and/or steel structures for projects, maintenance, and safety-related items. You will create, maintain, and store construction documents and drawings for project work, plant as-built drawings for reference, and record drawings that show the type of construction. Additionally, you will work with external engineers for design completion and review. Our goal is to support site production plants and projects by designing for ease of construction, reliability, and structural integrity while keeping cost and schedule in mind.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and design structural steel capable of equipment support.

Provide calculated lifting assistance for vessels, equipment, and manways, including monorails and lugs.

Create and assemble CSA design packages and distribute them to internal and external engineering and design groups for approval.

Verify field conditions and design capabilities.

Create construction documents in AutoCAD and leverage 3D modeling in AutoCAD Plant 3D.

Design foundations, steel supports, piping supports, or structures.

Evaluate applicable underground drawings for interference and execute the excavation permitting process.

Develop permit drawings for the Corps of Engineers and/or City of Kansas City.

Complete permit forms as required and manage vendor drawings.

Compare third-party submittals to drawings and standards for compliance.

Conduct field surveys for grades and elevations coordination.

Manage survey documentation for installation elevations.

Essential Skills

Minimum 2 years of college or a High School diploma with 5 years of CSA design experience.

Strong understanding of concrete and rebar details.

Strong comprehension of structural design, lifting and support capacities, and regulatory requirements.

Working knowledge and experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and Navisworks.

Fieldwork experience in an active chemical plant or processing industry, including gathering field dimensions, confirming survey data, and verifying structural installation details.

Team collaboration skills to work with other disciplines and plant personnel.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Ability to customize AutoCAD components is a bonus.

Experience with AutoCAD Vault and ProjectWise.

Experience with Bluebeam and Leica software.

Strong 3D modeling experience.

Work Environment

This role involves working in an active chemical plant or processing industry environment. You will be required to perform fieldwork, including gathering field dimensions, confirming survey data, and verifying structural installation details. The position requires you to create construction documents in AutoCAD and utilize 3D modeling in AutoCAD Plant 3D. You will also be responsible for managing survey documentation for installation elevations and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
