Job Description This role is based remotely but if you live within a 50-mile radius of [Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Warren, Milford or Mountain View], you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum. The Role The Senior Data Scientist is an internal expert in methodology and leads audience activation modeling efforts, translating complex customer data into actionable marketing strategies and personalized customer experiences through machine learning modeling. This individual possesses deep technical expertise in statistics and machine learning, with a strong focus on their application in marketing targeting. This individual will collaborate closely with stakeholders from GM’s vehicle brands and the Performance Driven Marketing team to ensure business acceptance of proposed methods, conduct objective performance evaluations, and optimize audience activation to drive sales. You will be responsible for developing advanced marketing models, extracting valuable insights, and creating scalable solutions that identify high-return investment opportunities at the channel and tactic levels. Our team is focused on delivering forward-thinking, consumer-centric, and prescriptive solutions that enable GM to remain proactive and agile as we transition to electric vehicles (EVs). What You'll Do Work on a cross-functional team to propose and implement high-impact, data-driven solutions to address business challenges across a variety of business units. Apply advanced data-driven modeling techniques to inform decision making and solve complex business problems. Create breakthrough solutions, performing exploratory and targeted data analyses. Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data. Monitor and sustain model effectiveness. Present complex information using data visualization techniques. Work with diverse technical teams and provide data and analytical oversight to ensure project deliverables fulfill business needs and timing. Identify long-term technical innovations while continuously improving execution efficiency. Possessing contextual business knowledge and functional domain expertise in the advertising and media space, showing a proven ability of using data, analytics, and insights to add revenue and business-impacting value via audience selection and behavioral engagement. Exhibiting a perspective of constrained curiosity, asking why, and suggesting experimentation to drive incremental impact. Exhibiting the ability to tell a succinct, data-driven story in any forum and tailor delivery to a wide range of stakeholder levels, from analyst to senior executive. Ensuring a superior level of delivery quality at all levels of their organization through the creation of internal structures and extensible frameworks to manage accountability and develop staff. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) Bachelors Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Marketing Science, or another quantitative field. Deep knowledge of Machine Learning and Statistics. Familiarity with Deep Learning algorithms is a plus. Proficient in writing scalable code using Python and SQL/Spark, with experience working with Spark/ML, scikit-learn, NumPy, Pandas, StatsModels, PyMC, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and related packages. Experience with cloud compute platforms such as Azure with Databricks experience being especially valuable. 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or in a related role, developing, deploying, and monitoring performance of large analytic data sets and machine learning-based models. Desired expertise in marketing analytics and advanced methods such as: customer lifetime value, consumer choice (multinomial logit), time-series forecasting, hierarchical bayes, panel-data methods (fixed/random effects), censored/truncated regressions, selection models, non-random treatment effects, hazard/survival models, structural equation modeling, item response theory, latent class regression, media mix modeling (MMM), multi-touch attribution (MTA). Prior experience with paid, earned, and owned media. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects at once without sacrificing quality. The expected base compensation for this role is: $130,800 - $232,900. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position. Bonus Potential:
