Paul Mitchell Advanced Education (PMAE) is the franchisor of a network of 90+ independently owned and operated franchise cosmetology and/or barbering schools operating under the Paul Mitchell School brand. Job Summary

The Social Media Specialist role requires extensive experience in content strategy, creation, and execution across multiple social media platforms. This role is ideal for a highly skilled copywriter and social media practitioner who is passionate about crafting compelling narratives, developing high-quality content, and building a strong digital presence that resonates with our target audience.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with an eye for aesthetics, an innate understanding of platform-specific content trends, and a track record of successfully managing and executing social media content calendars. You will take ownership of our social media strategy, ensuring that every piece of content aligns with our brand voice, culture, and values, engages our community, and drives meaningful results.

Responsibilities

Content Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and maintain a high-quality content calendar that aligns with business objectives, key campaigns, and audience interests.
  • Plan and execute engaging, platform-specific content tailored for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and other relevant platforms.
  • Identify emerging social media trends and proactively integrate them into content strategies.

Content Creation & Copywriting

  • Write compelling, compliant, and on-brand copy for posts, captions, stories, and video scripts that drive engagement and conversions.
  • Oversee content production, including graphic design, video creation, and UGC (User-Generated Content) sourcing, ensuring content meets brand quality standards.
  • Collaborate with internal and national teams to create visually stunning and engaging assets.

Social Media Execution & Engagement

  • Publish and schedule content, ensuring posts go live at optimal times for maximum reach and engagement.
  • Actively engage with our audience by responding to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and authentic manner.
  • Monitor community sentiment and implement engagement strategies that foster brand loyalty.

Franchise Network Training & Support

  • Develop and implement best practice guides, toolkits, and training sessions (in-person and virtual) to educate franchisees on effective social media strategies, and compliance requirements.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for franchisees seeking guidance on social media trends, platform updates, and content best practices.

Performance Tracking & Optimization

  • Analyze content performance metrics using native platform analytics and third-party tools to assess the success of campaigns.
  • Report on key performance indicators (KPIs), insights, and recommendations for content improvements.
  • Continuously optimize content based on data-driven insights to maximize engagement and reach.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in social media management, content strategy, or a related role.
  • Proven track record of exceptional copywriting skills, with the ability to craft compelling and engaging social content.
  • Hands-on experience managing and growing brand presence across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and other relevant platforms.
  • Strong visual and aesthetic sensibility, with experience in collaborating with designers and internal teams to create high-quality social content.
  • Deep understanding of social media algorithms, trends, and best practices to drive engagement and audience growth.
  • Proficiency in social media scheduling tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Later, Hootsuite) and analytics platforms.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to make presentations to stakeholders, franchise owners, directors, and local teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to turn insights into actionable content strategies.
  • Flexible and positive attitude, able to work independently and within teams.
  • Face-to-face, phone, Zoom, Teams, and other communication platforms are required.
  • Experience working in an industry with high compliance and legal requirements is a plus.
  • Experience working in the beauty industry is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Artificial Intelligence Prompts is a plus.
