Teaching Artist - Visual Arts Job at Minnesota Council of Nonprofits in Edina
Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, Edina, MN, United States
Articulture is presently seeking part-time contractual teaching artists for children, teen and/or adult art classes.
We are looking for teachers who are interested in teaching children in our weekly summer art camps program. We are additionally looking for teachers with experience in various visual arts disciplines for ongoing youth and/or adult classes such as: drawing, painting, printmaking, comics/animation, water media, bookmaking/binding, papermaking, etc., and in fine crafts such as spoon carving, leather shoemaking, fabric dying, felting, etc.
Ongoing teaching opportunities:
We offer year-round visual arts classes and workshops to adults, teens, and children, which includes an extensive summer art camp programming for both children and teens.
We have relationships with a number of MPS after school programs that turn to us for quality arts programming. These teaching positions are ongoing throughout the school year. We also offer in-school art-in-residencies when opportunities exist.
We have grant-funded partnerships working with social service organizations to offer Art and Healing classes for vulnerable populations. We focus on self-identity, self-worth, a sense of belonging, and exploring loss and hope through creativity. Past programs have been with adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses, women in substance abuse treatment and rehabilitation, homeless children, affordable housing programs, homeless adults, and at-risk teens.
There are occasional opportunities to work on community public art with our Youth Arts Collaborative (YAC) public art program. This program engages urban teens and our teaching artists to problem-solve with organizations and communities through the creation of public art. The core of our community public art projects revolve around youth mentoring and issues of social change.
To Apply:
- Please send a teaching resume and samples of your artwork or link to your website.
- Past visual arts teaching experience is a must.
- Familiarity working with vulnerable and marginalized populations is a plus.
